It’s that time of the month again. We at The Wausonian think Wausau is pretty interesting after dark, and this monthly tavern report gives us an inside look. This post is available only to paid subscribers of The Wausonian.
I took out the Weston calls. I plan to meet with the Mountain Bay Metropolitan Police Department Chief in the new year to discuss if there is a way to get a similar tavern report. Weston has a sort of Public Safety committee but there is no tavern report or anything similar the committee gets, from what I could see.
The aftershock of noise complaints: Police recently have responded to numerous complaints of noise coming from Aftershock Bar. Police on all but one occasion thought the noise was not in fact excessive. At one point, though, an officer issued a disturbing the peace citation. Police made several extra stops to the bar toward the end of the month to check on the noise and did not note any excessive noise coming from Aftershock. In December, police met with the owner who told officers she believed neighbors were strategically taking turns calling in noise complaints. She told officers they took extra steps to keep the noise low, such as ensuring the windows were always closed, moving the speakers’ location, asking the DJs to keep the volume lower than usual, and putting out signs to tell patrons not to stand around and chat. Police advised her to try to make amends with neighbors.
