BREAKING: Mayor Diny's attorneys can depose the city clerk, city attorney in ethics case
The board voted unanimously Thursday to grant the motion to compel
Correction: One of the items on Thursday’s agenda was related to Diny’s attorney’s motion. The other is related to potential subpoenas of witnesses for the hearing. The Wausonian will update this post with the list of people subpoenaed to the hearing.
From someone watching at home, it appeared that nothing much happened.
The Wausau Ethics Board on Thursday had two items on its agenda. One was related to Mayor Doug Diny’s attorney’s motion to compel the city clerk and city attorney in the upcoming hearing related to whether Diny violated the ethics code when he removed a ballot box from the steps of city hall on a Sunday last September.
The board held almost no discussion before going into closed session. Ordinarily, the video feed would return once the body comes back into open session.
But that never happened.
However, Diny confirmed to The Wausonian that the board approved the motion, which means that city clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde and city attorney Anne Jacobson will need to sit for a deposition prior to the Sept. 5 hearing.
Now video has been posted confirming what Diny told The Wausonian.
