I still think it would make a great community Makerspace.

For sure — someone just has to make the pitch! Sounds like a fairly short timeframe this time around. In fact an even shorter time frame was initially proposed.

When we initially pitched this idea at SOUP 2, it was almost the very next day Urban Street made an offer to purchase, and the idea of the Makerspace at that location seemed less favorable.

We have a wealth of knowledge & mentorship opportunities in our community to make a Makerspace/community center something that everyone in our community could access and treasure. This model of Makerspace requires financial community support, just like the Idea Center located in Stevens Point.

Eventually, someone will see the need and make a privately funded Makerspace (which will still be awesome) but won't be the inclusive community-focused access-for-all Makerspace I envisioned at Wausau Soup 2.

Well, the building is open and the city is taking proposals. Reach out to Liz Brodek or Brad Lenz at the city to learn how to make a proposal. I believe it's open until early October. There's a formal process.
