Why would the court (Moran's staff) even schedule a hearing with as little as a 15 minute window? It was easily anticipated by said scheduler that such a hearing would lead to the in camera ruling Moran offered. Or, perhaps that is why it was given such short shift on the schedule...
Either way, you got the suspense hook this story deserves. Now the grounds for the separation agreement are certainly more tantalizing.
I guess I haven’t attended a lot of these civil court proceedings (I used to cover criminal court almost exclusively), but I have seen suits dismissed in this early stage because the judge thought they were ridiculous. I assume it was a chance to see if it needed to proceed to the next step and to get a sense from the two attorneys what the intention was. I didn’t necessarily expect there to be a decision in the case Friday. Though I wasn’t sure what would happen.
If bureaucracy needed a committed defender, it has one running Circuit Court 5. It tracks accordingly that more time would be required by the judge, simply because there was only 1 attorney presenting to the court and that alone raises a question: former Chief wants records sealed, but he appears alone. How committed is he? Not so serious that he feels a qualified, experienced advocate is needed.
