We think Wausau gets pretty interesting after dark. Here are the significant police calls to Wausau taverns for the last month, plus information about liquor licenses and other bar-related matters.

Police plan to reach out to the owners of the Hiawatha Sports Bar as the business hit 100 demerit points recently.

The latest 50 points came from police running a check at the bar and finding no licensed bartender on site. Bars in Wausau are required to have at least one licensed bartender on the premises, even if other bartenders are doing most of the front-facing work.

If police discover that no licensed bartender is on site, police will issue a citation and shut the bar down for the night. That happened on July 5 when officers a bit after 11:30 pm discovered no licensed bartender was working. The same thing happened at Lemongrass Asian Fusion a little earlier that same night. Each were awarded 50 demerit points.
