Hold My Beer: 4 Fathers Pub called out for noise complaints
The Wausau Tavern Report for January 2025
It’s that time of the month again. We at The Wausonian think Wausau is pretty interesting after dark, and this monthly tavern report gives us an inside look. This post is available only to paid subscribers of The Wausonian.
The demerit point streak has come to an end, as we will see in our lede story today.
The owners of Wausau’s 4 Fathers Pub went before the city’s Public Health and Safety Committee this month to apply for an entertainment license.
It did not go well.
According to police reports, a police officer on Jan. 18 just before 10 pm stopped by 4 Fathers Pub after receiving a complaint about the noise. The owner, Daniel, was confrontational, reports say, and demanded the officer produce a decibel meter. He refused to turn down the music. The officer explained that city ordinances do not require a decibel meter.
The officer returned with a citation and asked to see the bar’s entertainment license for the live band they had hosted that month - it turned out, they didn’t have one. The officer also issued a citation for hosting live music without an entertainment license. Daniel apologized to the officer for being rude, according to the report.
But that’s not the whole story.
