It’s that time of the month again. We at The Wausonian think Wausau is pretty interesting after dark, and this monthly tavern report gives us an inside look. This post is available only to paid subscribers of The Wausonian.
Remarkably, this month marks the eighth with no demerit points issued. We asked around for some opinions on this and some local leaders weighed in on why that is in the demerit section below.
Racist and in need of treatment: Police were called to Bob and Randy’s Bar at 7:42 pm Dec. 2 for a report of a man yelling racial slurs and refusing to leave the bar. The bar wanted him charged with trespassing and he refused to give officers his identification. Police arrested the man for obstruction and after a brief probation hold, transported him to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for high blood alcohol (.34 BAC) and other issues.
Juvenile false alarm: A caller who refused to identify themselves alerted police at 1:12 am Dec. 24 that there was an underage drinker in the Cop Shoppe Pub. Police arrived to find four patrons of appropriate age for the bar and no one else, despite arriving only six minutes after the call came through. No one else had been there for a few hours except a man who the bartender turned away because of a ban, the bartender told police.
