We published our follow-up story recently about the investigation into Kronenwetter Administrator James Davel and its unusual fallout.
The investigation failed to substantiate claims that Davel had told staff a story about a female service member having a tattoo in a private place. But the investigation “uncovered” volatile text exchanges involving Zoning Administrator Peter Wegner and Village Clerk Jennifer Poyer (something that was already known to administration and that had already been addressed). It led to Wegner being fired on April 30. Poyer later resigned and filed her own complaint.
When that story was published, The Wausonian Poyer said she wasn’t able to respond yet because her business with the village hadn’t concluded. Since the follow-up story had already taken quite some time after our initial story broke, we published.
Poyer’s response came this week, and it sheds some new light on the situation that raises questions about whether the village followed state statutes and its own ordinance.
