A construction worker named Lucas Bednarek was on the job at The Landmark restoration project on Nov. 18 when a lawsuit alleges a crane operator was attempting to connect a jib.
According to the suit, the jib was propped up with a 4x4 post, and when the crane operator pushed down on the jib with a crane, it kicked the 4x4 out and the jib fell, injuring Bednarek.
Bednarek suffered permanent injuries as a result, including fractures to his foot and ankle, a left foot laceration, bruising, anxiety and pain. The injury cost him wages and medical expenses.
The Wausonian wrote about The Landmark renovation project, which turned the property into low income housing using state and federal tax credits to complete the restoration of what was once Hotel Wausau and later low-cost apartments.
Bednarek is suing Peters Heavy Construction and its insurance companies for personal injury compensation.
That’s just one of several notable civil filings this month, including lawsuits over alleged construction defects, unpaid contracts, a family money dispute and updates on past cases.
