It’s that time of the month again! Our Wausonian open threads are a chance for everyone, regardless of subscriber status, to comment with your point of view.

This month we’re talking about the Wausau School District’s plan to restructure its schools in a pretty significant way. Administrators say it’s necessary with the decline in enrollments and the difficulties of having too few students spread out amongst too many buildings.

But opponents point out the difficulties in transportation that will result, amongst a number of other challenges. Some have said they will open enroll out of the district if these changes are approved.

I’ve heard both publicly and privately, both support for the plan and against. Both have come from current teachers as well as parents.

In case you missed it, this story was sent to everyone that breaks down the plan in detail:

The housing market in the Wausau/Marathon County area has continued to baffle me. When the pandemic hit, I thought surely home sales would taper. Would people really be out looking for houses when otherwise everything was on lockdown and no one knew exactly what would happen with this crazy virus…

In spite of cuts, Nurse Family Partnership transition work has begun
A refrain during the county’s long and contentious budget meeting went that if $140,000 was removed from the Nurse Family Partnership, the program wouldn’t be able to happen. That turned out to not be true. Marathon County Health Officer Laura Scudiere told the county’s Health and Human Services Committee last week that the program is being implemented as you read this…
