Spooky season | Your Wausome Weekend Guide
Halloween events and other Wausau happenings for the week of Oct. 22-28, 2025

Downtown Trick or Treating
Thursday, Oct. 23: It’s costume time! Dress up your little ones in their best Halloween garb and bring them downtown to trick or treat in a safe environment at participating downtown businesses. Enjoy the spooky festivities while getting an excuse to wander downtown. 3:30 pm. See the event page for more.
Haunted Corn Maze
Thurs-Sat, Oct. 23-25: I did a corn maze last weekend, at Wilke’s. Those things are hard! But I wanted those two pieces of candy that came with my completion of said maze, so I was motivated and spent an hour filling out my punch card. This maze at Willow Springs will be haunted, so besides wondering where you are, you’ll have spooky critters jumping out at you. Plus it’ll tucker out your kids with all that walking. 7-10 pm (6:30 pm on Friday). $15/person. See the event page for more.
Boos and Booze
Friday, Oct. 24: It’s not every year we get a new event in Wausau, so mark your calendars! After all, why not pair a night of costume wearing with a sampling of brews from more than a dozen breweries. Plus enter the costume contest, enjoy some pizza and have a fun, spooky evening of adult fun. Bonus: Your favorite radio man Dave Kallaway will be jamming some monster mashing tunes at this event at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center. 6-9 pm. $23.18. Check out the event page for more and for tickets.
Diwali Festival of Lights
Saturday, Oct. 25: If you’ve never been to a Diwali party celebrating the Festival of Lights, you have no idea what you’re missing. The food alone is worth the price of admission, but stack on top of that a night of learning to dance Bollywood, plus a choreographed performance, a fashion show and more for a magical night at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center. 5 pm. $40/adult. See more on the event page.
Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood
Thursday, Oct. 23: A lot of you probably remember Colin and Brad from the old Whose Line is it Anyway?, an improv sketch comedy show coming out of the old Drew Carey show era. This is the evolution of that show, with Colin and Brad showing off their comedic prowess as they take audience cues and turn them into pure laughter at the Grand Theater! 7:30 pm. $49-$84. See the event page for more.
Candlelight Concerts: Halloween Classics
Saturday, Oct. 25: These candlelight concerts are basically magic, and now they’re taking on a Halloween theme! The Listeso String Quartet will play such Halloween classics as Michael Jackson’s Thriller, The Stranger Things theme, the Beetlejuice theme and more. One of the blocks is already sold out, so you might want to jump on these if you want to go. Times at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. $25-$60. Check out the event page for more.
Opera Classics
Sunday, Oct. 26: We’re aiming to get cultured here at The Wausonian. So we’re sending you to the opera. But this is a great way to get introduced to this art form. The Monteverdi Chorale and UWSP Opera Workshop are partnering up here to deliver Opera Classics, a collection of some of the favorite pieces from classic operas. And it will be held in the James Veninga Theater, named after the beloved professor and dean of UW-Marathon. 4 pm. $20, $5 for students. See the event page for more. (There is a Saturday performance in Stevens Point as well.)
Pint-sized Concerts
Wednesday, Oct. 22: Now I don’t know about you personally, but I enjoy taking in some culture with a brewski or two. So you can do just that here at Uncommon Pints. Join the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra Bassoon eEnsemble for an evening of classics and pop covers while you enjoy one of Uncommon Pints’… well, uncommon pints from various breweries you don’t usually find on tap. 6 pm. See the event page for more.

Upcoming
Dylan Earl
Thursday, Nov. 20: Lamplight Sessions has been hosting a number of what you might call alt country or outlaw country — real country, in my opinion. And Dylan Earl is definitely that. Born in Louisiana and raised in Arkansas, Earl cites groups such as Rattlesnake Milk and Esther Rose amongst his influences. His is a breezy country with a deep lap steel sound punctuating his lightly drawling vocals. Opener not yet announced. 7 pm. $38. See the event page for more.
