Multiple officers responded to a report of a fight on the midway during the Wisconsin Valley Fair last month.
Accounts of the events from those involved conflict, but the basics of what happened appear to be as follows: three men on Aug. 6 attacked another man, pushed him against a fence, and then took him to the ground. They choked him, and one person kicked him in the face, police reports show.
One of the men involved said he was in fact punched first.
The fight allegedly escalated as other people became involved. Eventually fair workers broke up the fight.
Police referred two of the men for charges of battery and disorderly conduct. Police were unable to identify a third suspect, but could refer charges against him if he is later identified.

Not fully in the right: Police responded to Intermission Bar for a report of a fight at 9:41 pm Aug. 9. According to the report, a 36-year-old Wausau man approached another man at the bar and accused him of abusing his girlfriend. He then slapped the victim in the chest and grabbed him by the throat, the victim told police. The victim took him to the ground, but the alleged assailant landed more blows while on the ground. He is now facing misdemeanor battery charges, court records show.
