The address listed for Central Wisconsin K-9 takes one to this address. There is no sign on the door. But the address - 401 Alderson - matches the address on the building and it appears in a photo on the business’s InstaGram page.

Correction: A previous version of this story had the transporter telling police details of her visit but those were relayed through the representative of the rescue organization.

The investigation into Central Wisconsin K9 began well before Mountain Bay Metropolitan Police executed a search warrant there.

It started when a woman named Leslie came to pick up rescue dogs that were sent to be cared for there. The company, Angel Dog Alliance, became concerned with CW K9 and its owner, Sean Dumais, after they stopped hearing much from him, a representative told police. They were not getting any photographs of the dogs, which was expected as part of their contract. None of the dogs had been taken to the vet, as was part of their contract.

They sent a transporter, Leslie, from Naperville, Ill. to Central Wisconsin K9 to pick up the dogs.

She became immediately concerned when a dog was rolled out in a kennel for her, according to the criminal complaint. The dog’s kennel was covered in feces and dog hair, and she was told the dog was “unmanageable.” She took photos and video and left with eight dogs.

Then, realizing she was supposed to have picked up nine dogs but was only provided eight, she went back. The ninth dog was wheeled out to her, and according to her, it was so emaciated that even the fat stores on its head - which she said were the last reserves an animal uses - were completely gone, according to the criminal complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, she believed that had the dog stayed there much longer, it very likely would have died of malnutrition.

Another dog seemed well fed, according to the police report, but that it seemed to have been soaking in urine and feces so long that its white coat had turned brown.

Police were told that on Oct. 9. On the 10th, police executed a search warrant on the business, and shortly thereafter its owner, Dumais, was arrested along with an employee.

Dumais, until recently a Kronenwetter village board member, faces a total of five felony charges and 43 total charges in relation to what investigators say they found when they searched the building via a warrant.

And what they allege is by any accounting disturbing.
