But the board's chair had signed an early letter calling on the U.S. Attorney's office to investigate the ballot box incident, according to a copy of that letter

The city’s Ethics Board this week is set to hear a complaint filed in January regarding Mayor Doug Diny’s removal of a new ballot box from the steps of Wausau city hall in September. (A story The Wausonian first broke.)
The incident touched off a firestorm on both sides of the political aisle and a battle over who has authority over the ballot box. It led to a state investigation and complaints filed against the clerk herself.
The city’s Ethics Board is slated to take up the complaint today (Wednesday). But some are raising an ethical issue with the board itself.
