We’re trying a new feature — welcome to The Wausonian’s new zoning map! We’re calling this feature In The Zone. The idea is that there are all these little changes going on in your backyard, and none of them are probably worth a few paragraphs for a brief, but you still might want to know about them.

For instance, people in the southeast side neighborhood might want to know that an alley near Bertha and Elmwood streets is being vacated; or that Yawkey Park has been officially designated as a historic landmark, and a new 7 Brew is planned for Rothschild.

We took the idea from The Charlotte Ledger, and it’s one of their most popular features. Hopefully that will be the case here too! The plan is to publish this monthly as long as there are enough items.

And since this is a new feature, we would like your feedback! Let us know what you think in the comments below if you’re a paid subscriber and are reading this feature.

Paid subscribers can see the full zoning report and the interactive version of the map below. Grab your free trial to check it out yourself!
