Diny's moves to remake committees
Three things to start your week
Mayor Doug Diny started Monday with a press release laying out a new committee plan.
That plan? Reduce the city’s committees from six to four.
(Technically the press release went out late Sunday night, though likely most of the media got the release on Monday morning.)
From the release:
“The current system with six standing committees has become redundant, inefficient, and unnecessarily burdensome for both city staff and council members,” said Mayor Diny. “After watching and participating in this structure for the last four years, I have concluded it’s time for a change. I am recommending we move to a more streamlined four-committee model.”
Diny suggested the council adopt the new structure at its organizational meeting Tuesday, which is the first meeting for the new city council members.
But Diny isn’t the first local politician to suggest the new structure.
