It's what used to be called the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, formed under the Mielke administration. It's chaired by ald. Tom Kilian and is not a standing committee. Other than Kilian is is comprised of citizen members.
I understand and support a Diversity and Inclusion Committee. "Freedom and Liberation" does not suggest any mission to me ... is that the intent of the title?
I think a lot of people scratched their heads a bit at that one. Sources on the original commission told me the first version of the committee wasn't well-run or accomplishing anything, and I think (but this me remembering back a few years) that the new name was meant to sort of renew the committee. But I don't recall hearing the reasoning of the actual name itself, just that a new name was needed. It does indeed not really suggest its mission.
