He thought he was talking to a teen, reports say; but he was actually talking to police
And two homicide case you probably haven't heard about, plus an update in the Central Wisconsin K9 case and its dogs
In a recent talk with a law enforcement official, he shared concerns about a trend of fraud, not only toward the elderly, but toward teens.
A recent arrest in Wausau seems to confirm that notion.
Police arrested a 49-year-old Menasha man, Shawn James Lamoore, after police say he was texting with who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl in Wausau over Telegram, allegedly attempting to arrange a sexual liaison.
It wasn’t. The person on the other end of the Telegram chats was in fact a Wausau police officer.
According to the criminal complaint, Lamoore made contact with the officer posed as a 15-year-old girl on Telegram, and later on KiK and text as well.
The latest series of chats began on Nov. 22. The officer used fake photos of a 15-year-old girl created by digitally altering photos of a female police officer.
The chats then took place for several weeks over several different platforms, including KiK, Telegram and text message.
The officer used the information he provided to track down Lamoore’s information, including his criminal history.
During that time, Lamoore allegedly sent numerous voice messages, some of which were sexually explicit, as well as sexually explicit GIFs and even videos.
Throughout the interactions, the officer explained several times that “she” was only 15 years old, in order to make it clear. Police say that Lamoore acknowledged that fact.
On Dec. 6, the officer made arrangements with Lamoore to meet up, dropping him a pin for the apartment address where, in fact, police officers were waiting. But things didn’t quite go as planned.
