Two men were arrested last month and are facing numerous felony charges in connection to a string of bar burglaries in the metro south.

Police on April 26 investigated a break-in that occurred at Norm’s Bar, 51 Bar and Grill and Night School. Several gambling machines were damaged and burglarized during those break-ins. According to reports, police used a K9 officer to track the suspect from where he left Norm’s Bar to where officers believe the suspect got onto a bicycle, and the dog was no longer able to track.

Police investigated a similar break-in at Trailside Bar and Grill, where police used surveillance footage to determine two men on bicycles were near the bar around the time of the burglary. But because of the speed of the bikes, no ID could be made.

Total damages between all the places was at least $30,000.

What helped break the case open? A sleepless employee of the company that owns the gambling machines.
