Saturday, Sept. 19: When I saw Dandelion Delivery Service at Lamplight Sessions, I was impressed. And delighted to learn they were from our backyard in Stevens Point. Dandelion punches above its weight with a lead singer who is also an incredible fiddle player. The whole band is tight, the song-writing pushes the bluegrass genre to its limits in inventive ways, and the experience they present is worth seeing when you get a chance. Uncommon Pints
Saturday, Sept. 19: Many of us probably don’t need an excuse to drink beer, but it never hurts. Fall season is not just pumpkin spice season, but it’s also Oktoberfest season. And Uncommon Pints is the first out of the gate! The watering hole known for carrying small brewery taps you don’t often see on offer is planning to offer music from the prize-winning jazz/folk act Pete Henry Duo, a stein holding contest and more than 10 oktoberfest-style beers. 3 pm. Sunday, Sept. 20: Oh you know it’s that pumpkin spice time of year. And nothing rings that in like a good old-fashioned Harvest Festival. Willow Springs Garden has you covered here with a festival featuring a corn maze, Corvettes of the North, a charcoal chicken dinner, oat threshing and straw bale demonstrations, horse-drawn rides and a whole bunch of other fun things for the kiddos to do. Friday, Sept. 18: I have to admit, it is a little unusual to see a tribute band to a contemporary singer. But that’s exactly what this act sponsored by Marathon County Crimestoppers aims to do. Alexandra Lee puts a ton of work into channeling Nashville singer Lainey Wilson, whose hit songs “Heart Like a Truck” and “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” are still fairly contemporary hits. If cowboy hats and bellbottoms are your thing, this show at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center should be a good time. 7 pm. $20. See the event page for more.

Fri.-Sun, Sept. 18-20: The Wausau Community Theatre is back with another heart-stopping show! This time the group is putting on the musical Come From Away, which is “based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001.” WCT always does a great job on these shows so expect to be entertained. 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday, 2 pm Saturday and Sunday. Sunday, Sept. 20: If reptiles, amphibians and even spiders are your thing, then this Scaled-Up Reptile show is where you want to be. The show features some of the top breeders, keepers and educators in the space, along with plenty of vendors with everything from crickets for feeding to cages and artwork.
