The Weston Village Board Monday night voted to approve a planned merger between Everest Metro and Rothschild police departments. Rothschild will follow suit next week.

So how soon would the new Mountain Bay Metropolitan Police Department be up and running? April, village leaders say.

Depending on when in April they mean (and something for which I haven’t yet gotten answers), that could be less than a month away.

When would the department have a new police chief? April, both Ryan VanDeWalle of Rothschild and Jami Gebert of Weston say.

It seems like a lot of things will have to happen between now and then, and I have a lot of questions that so far have gone unanswered…
